International exchange

The College of Forestry closely aligns with the goal of building a world-class discipline and college, comprehensively enhancing the level of internationalized education, and steadily advancing the process of internationalization. In recent years, the college has successively signed agreements or reached cooperation intentions with institutions such as the University of British Columbia in Canada, the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, the Russian State Forestry and Technology University, the University of Bali, and the Mongolian University of Life Sciences for Sino-foreign cooperative education and credit mutual recognition/exchange programs, continuously promoting the construction of Sino-foreign cooperative education. The college also conducts in-depth academic exchanges and cooperation with overseas institutions such as the Forestry Research Institute of the Northern Research Station in the UK and the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research, promoting the in-depth development of international cooperation and exchanges. Furthermore, the college has been approved for the first time to receive funding from the China Scholarship Council's 2025 International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents, creating convenient conditions for students in the field of forestry to study abroad. Additionally, the college is actively enhancing its English teaching capabilities and promoting the improvement of the quality of international student training. By updating the college's information page and tutor database, selecting outstanding tutors to conduct recruitment promotion on the American Natural Resources website, and carrying out overseas recruitment lectures, the college attracts more outstanding students from Europe and America to study in China. The college has repeatedly hosted projects such as the BFU-UBC Summer Student Exchange Training Program and the Ministry of Commerce's Short-term Training Program, promoting exchanges and interactions between domestic and foreign teachers and students, and improving the quality of the college's all-English teaching.

Adhering to the principle of emphasizing both "bringing in" and "going out", we have fully promoted the work of attracting talents. In 2024, a total of 41 teachers and students went abroad to participate in student conferences or exchange studies, among which 50% of the undergraduates went to universities ranked in the top 100 in the world for exchange, and the proportion of graduate students going abroad for exchange exceeded 10%. We actively encourage teachers to participate in international exchange work, and one of them was awarded the Knight of the Academic Palme by the French Ministry of Education. Focusing on the frontiers of international discipline development, we have actively introduced foreign high-level experts and teams, especially in areas urgently needed and shortages in the country, as well as key development directions. In 2024, a total of 47 foreign experts came to our university for teaching and scientific research exchange and cooperation; one of them was awarded the "Government Friendship Award" of China.

Build a leading international cooperation platform and construct a world-class university cooperation network. The second phase of the Sino-French-European Asian Forest Invasive Pest Ecology (IFOPE) Joint Laboratory successfully renewed its cooperation agreement; the second phase of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-Beijing Forestry University Center for Forest Health and Protection Capacity Building and Technology Promotion was successfully launched. Actively carry out international academic exchange activities, and have hosted or organized international conferences such as "Pests in a Changing World", "Global Change Research Symposium 2024 Smart Solutions for Sustainable and Healthy Cities", the Forestry Frontiers Lecture (Third Session), and the Forestry College Exchange Meeting of the Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference, comprehensively enhancing the internationalization level of the college.
